During the summer we collaborated with the Budapest based organization Cargonomia in creating a workshop where people could come along and learn practical bike repair skills.
I love to ride the bike and have enjoyed exploring the vineyards of the Etyek countryside. For me then, this workshop was of great benefit. I learned some useful repair skills which I have been able to utilize.
After the workshop was over, we prepared a meal together, where I had the pleasure of being introduced to Vincent Liegy, a key voice in the developing Degrowth movement in Hungary. I enjoyed the ensuing conversation, where he spoke about his book and we debated issues around ecology, capitalism and the Degrowth alternative.
All those who were involved in the event found it very helpful and were encouraged to use bikes more instead of cars, being beneficial to both personal health and the environment.
